Medical Equipment needed to package new ultrasound technology into a unit that
would feature usability, expandability and serviceability. The unit had to be
easily transportable and had to take up a minimum of space in an operating room
crowded with other equipment. |

We
minimized the footprint of the unit by carefully considering what the architecture
of the internal componentry should be. We enabled the unit to be easily serviced
and expanded by providing access on both sides of the case to the vertically
arranged components. We enhanced usability by designing the unit so that it
can be used comfortably in both a standing and a sitting position. We designed
the contours to be smooth for easy cleaning. And by incorporating the internal
sheet metal cage as part of the aesthetic design, we gave the unit both a unique
look and maximized Carolina Medical's tooling investment: the front and back
pressure-formed casings are molded in the same tool. |
