IEP Group, a maker of pharmaceutical drug delivery devices, had developed a system that would allow steroid drugs to be delivered to asthma sufferers in a dramatically more effective manner. The technology required extremely tight part tolerances. IEP Group was also a relative newcomer to the market and needed to establish a strong market presence from the outset.
We created an innovative method of combining two critical components into one, ensuring critical tolerance while also minimizing part count. We designed the device with an aesthetic that was clean and calming, yet suggestive of precision. Further, we gave the product a styling metaphor that speaks of the easy flowing nature of the product's intent.
IEP's Vortex Inhaler has established a forceful presence. Lab testing has shown that our careful modeling of critical geometry features has actually improved the efficacy of the device. The model database was integrated seamlessly with mold tooling, saving valuable time. The new aesthetic established for IEP sets the Vortex Inhaler apart.
